Drop-In Video Case Consultation Group*

For Therapists Working with Transgender, Intersex, Non Binary, Gender Expansive & Questioning Clients

*Group counts toward WPATH mentor hours needed toward certification (1 group=1 mentor hour)

You must first be a member of WPATH and submit your letter of intent toward certification in order to have group hours count toward mentorship hours.

First Friday of the month 10:00-10:55am PST(1-1:55pm EST)
If more than 4 people in an ongoing way time we expand to 1.5 hrs, if more than 4 time we change to 2 hrs.
  • Gain consultation on challenging cases from Lisette Lahana, a Senior Gender Specialist and Certified WPATH Provider who has been actively seeing clients in the transgender community since 1999.
  • Develop clinical skills and learn how to help clients prepare for medical interventions like surgery and hormones.
  • Discuss treatment plans and interventions to help trans, non binary, questioning and/or intersex clients reach goals for gender expression and well-being.
  • Help family, partners and the workplace move through the process of gender changes.
  • Explore intersectionality including how race, class, abilities, immigration status, family dynamics, mental health, sexuality and trauma histories impact a client's gender identity.
  • By working with a consult group you gain access to a private Google Group I run for gender therapists so you can ask questions, get resources and build your network nationally.
  • Gain support and consultation from peers in a diverse group of talented clinicians who are growing with you over time.
Depending on how many clinicians attend, we discuss 1-3 different clients or topics per group depending on complexity. Cases are presented informally so no major preparation is needed.  So that I may be prepared, I ask that you RSVP for the drop-in group by the Monday of that week though same day drop-ins can be arranged if space permits.  You may only attend the drop-in if we have a previous consultation relationship (individually or in group) or if we have talked about your attending ahead of time
No identifying information will be shared about clients during group to protect client confidentiality and you are required to keep all information you hear in group (except resources) confidential. We pay attention to the therapeutic process as well as intersectionality within the client, your own and the interplay in the therapy office.  Group is a safe place to share the complexity involved with doing this work as a trans/non binary therapist yourself.  If you are cisgender, we are carefully aware of your privilege and gender experience and how that impacts care.  We pay close attention to your work and the feelings you experience in the room, without judgement.  This has been especially important as the therapists in the group are all impacted personally by the changing political landscape.
Online video-based groups are a great way to network with therapists from all over the nation (though it is open to international therapists).  During group, we use zoom.us which allows us to see and hear each other on one screen so that you have a feeling of being in the room together.
COST:  Each group costs $68 is billed to the credit card you authorize me to keep on file. To grow our diverse gender therapist network, there are limited Lower fee slots ($30-$60) available for trans, intersex, non binary identified, disabled folks and clinicians of color while they cannot afford the full group fee. Graduate students, interns and international therapists welcome. Maximum: 8-9 members. Contact me if you are interested.
Interested in becoming a WPATH Certified Provider?   I am a WPATH Certified Provider and a WPATH GEI Mentor so that your hours of individual and group consultation count toward the 10 mentorship hours you need toward your WPATH Certification requirements.  Stay tuned for updates about my involvement in the mentorship program and a start date for a low cost WPATH mentor group I will be facilitating online to increase accessibility.
